Week 7: February 15th - 21st

The supplies you will need each week: Your Bible, a pencil or pen with notebook, a candle with lighter, and comfortable place to relax and absorb God’s word. I will be providing the Welcome, the “REVEALED, Part 2”Bible Study for the week, the words to any songs listed in program, and Closing Benediction weekly.

WEEK SEVEN

*Welcome to each of you. I pray that you will be refreshed and eyes open to the Holy Spirit as you take your Bible and lean on God’s everlasting arms today. Please make time to stop and smile at your family and let them know they are loved. Encourage them to join in this session as you enter this time with God as His name is “REVEALED, Part 2”.

*Devotional Reading:Psalm 121

*Lighting of the Candle and Breath Prayer:Spirit of God, Breathe on me.
Spirit of God, Pour out Your presence on me.
Spirit of God, Speak through Your word to me. AMEN.

 

*Reading the Bible Study “REVEALED, Part 2” and looking items up in your Bible. If in a group setting allow 15 minutes for quiet reflective time and individual Prayer of Discernment before any discussion begins.

*Prayer of Discernment to God on what you read. Ask God for his guidance on what you just read. Write your questions down if something needs further clarity or more prayer.  

 

WEEK SEVEN “REVEALED, Part 2”

 

 Each week a New name will be “Revealed”. 

*A short reading on the Name of God Revealed.A few Bible verses that use the Name of God Revealed.

*Grab your Bible and look up the verses then ask God daily to reveal Himself as the name which you are studying and finally keep a small journal to record how God has revealed Himself in that way.  

*Finally, share with someone how God has revealed Himself to you in the name you are studying.

This Week:El Olam (Everlasting God)

El Olam, the Everlasting God, is a secret name for God, hinting at His mysterious nature. The prefix El...is from Elohim (“strong Creator”). Olam means time, or age. With a tiny change in the vowel signs in Hebrew, the ancient rabbis spelled it alam, “hidden”, underscoring the mysterious nature of God. God's everlasting or timeless nature— without beginning or end—is one of the most profound mysteries of His nature.

Think About this:  

Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the LORD, the Eternal God.Genesis 21:33

 

Abimelek, a local ruler, wanted to make a treaty with Abraham because, as he said, “God is with you in everything you do.” Abimelek played it safe and became an ally of Abraham rather than an enemy. At first glance, this may seem a minor incident in Abraham’s life, but at Beersheba we see that Abraham calls on the LORD as El Olam, “the Everlasting God” or “Eternal God.”

 

The Hebrew word olam means “for a long time, always, forever.” El Olam thus reveals God as “the Everlasting God,” without beginning or end.

 

Why would Abraham use the name El Olam here? Note that before encountering Abimelek, Sarah had given birth to Isaac, the son God had promised. Abraham saw that God was faithful to his promises from many years earlier. As a reminder that “the Everlasting God” keeps his promises, Abraham planted a tamarisk tree, an evergreen, at Beersheba.

 

From everlasting to everlasting before the birth of the world the Everlasting God - El Olam, the Alpha the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End, is beyond any constraints of time that the human mind can construct.

 

As Charles Spurgeon once wrote, "What we call past, present, and future, He wraps up in one eternal NOW. And if you say that He loves you now, you thereby say that He loved you yesterday, He loved you in the past and He will love you forever; for now, with God is past, present, and future. 

 

God is not constrained by time, for "with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day".(2 Peter 3:8) To the human mind it may seem like God had forgotten about His promises to Abraham and Sarah because they waited 25 years for their promised child.  The children wandered for 40 years before entering the promised land. But eternal promises can be trusted when they come from an Everlasting God.

 

When we find ourselves overwhelmed by all the current trials hold onto the truth that El Olam is Everlasting.  El Olam has witnessed all storms from the beginning to the present and is standing on the other side protecting, guiding, and leading us.  Our Everlasting God has an Everlasting Love for us that through His Son Jesus Christ will bring us to our eternal home where all storms, trials, disease, death, and trials will be NO MORE! Amen.

*In Week Six you read or listened to the hymn “How Great Thy Art”, verses 1-2. This week read or listen to the same hymn but add verses 3-4. Take quiet time to reflect the meaning of those words in the hymn.

* Lent has begun. It represents the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness. Reflect on your notes from last week and write down what these verses mean to you in your Christian walk with God during this time leading up to Easter Sunday.

 

*Closing Benediction:2 John 3 - Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ the Father’s Son, in truth and love. AMEN.

*CLOSE YOUR EYES for 5-10 minutes and feel the love of Christ wrapping His loving arms around you.You are beautiful and one of a kind -YOU ARE GOD’S MASTERPIECE.
